Screening 40+

Health Screening 40+ is a national program that helps identify:

- Diabetes

- Cardiovascular diseases

- Mental health issues

How it works:

1. Examination and screening by a Helyos doctor.

During the screening visit, the doctor measures blood pressure to detect hypertension (a persistent increase in blood pressure above 140/90 mmHg), which is a key risk factor for stroke and heart attack, but which does not cause symptoms.

If hypertension is suspected, the doctor may prescribe 24-hour monitoring for a more accurate diagnosis.

The doctor also measures the heart rate and rhythm. This is necessary to detect heart rhythm disturbances (arrhythmias), which can lead to complications, particularly stroke.

The doctor also performs anthropometry: measures body weight, height, waist circumference, and determines the body mass index (BMI).

These indicators are used to identify risks of obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases.

2. Risk factor assessment and symptom screening.

During the "40+ Health Screening," a Helyos doctor asks about factors that significantly influence the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and diabetes:

  • smoking;
  • alcohol consumption;
  • physical activity;
  • family history.

The doctor also asks about the presence of symptoms that indicate early signs of illness.

4. Consultation with a Helyos doctor with recommendations for improving your health.

After all examinations, the doctor and the patient will develop a personalized plan:

  • how to develop healthy eating habits
  • what physical activity is needed
  • how to better manage stress
  • how to quit bad habits
  • how to lose weight

3. Laboratory tests.

These are tests that reveal changes a person doesn't experience but that significantly increase the risk of disease:

  • lipid profile - to assess the risk of atherosclerosis (narrowing of blood vessels due to fat deposition)
  • glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) test - shows the average glucose (sugar) level in the blood over 3 months, detecting prediabetes and diabetes.

According to the indications, the following are measured:

  • blood electrolytes (sodium, potassium) - to assess kidney and heart function
  • creatinine and eGFR - determine kidney health
  • urine albumin/creatinine (ACR) - for early detection of kidney damage.

If symptoms or a high risk of developing the disease are detected, the doctor will create an electronic referral to the appropriate specialist.
