When should you see a doctor?
Endoscopic surgeries may be recommended in the following cases:
- Urolithiasis (stones in the kidneys, ureters, or bladder).
- Prostate issues (benign prostatic hyperplasia, prostate cancer).
- Urethral strictures.
- Urinary problems related to urological conditions.
- Urinary tract infections that do not respond to medication.
Types of Endoscopic Minimally Invasive Urological Surgeries:
- Transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) — the most common method for treating benign prostatic hyperplasia. The surgery is performed through the urethra without the need for incisions. The surgeon removes tissue obstructing normal urine flow, improving urinary function.
- Ureteroscopy and nephrolithotripsy — methods for removing stones from the kidneys and ureters through the urethra or via puncture. Endoscopic methods allow for stone removal without large incisions, significantly reducing postoperative pain and recovery time.
- Cystoscopy — a procedure that allows the doctor to examine the bladder using a special instrument, a cystoscope. This method is used for diagnosing and treating various bladder conditions such as infections, tumors, or injuries.
- Ureteral stenting — a procedure involving the insertion of a stent to restore normal urine flow from the kidney to the bladder. This is often used for ureteral obstructions caused by stones, tumors, or other conditions.
- Laser therapy — laser removal of stones or treatment of prostate tissue (in benign prostatic hyperplasia) with minimal trauma. Laser technology allows precise removal of tissue or stones, minimizing bleeding and reducing the risk of complications.
