Cheiloplasty

Cheiloplasty is a surgical procedure aimed at correcting the shape and size of the lips. It can be either an aesthetic surgery to enhance the appearance of the lips or a reconstructive one, needed to restore the lips after trauma or due to congenital or acquired defects.

At the Helyos Center for Surgery and Rehabilitation, cheiloplasty is performed using modern surgical techniques to achieve a natural and harmonious result.

Indications for cheiloplasty:

Congenital lip defects or asymmetry
Volume loss due to aging or medical conditions
Lip stretching or deformation following injury
Aesthetic correction to improve lip shape and size

How the procedure is performed:

1.Consultation:

During the initial consultation, the surgeon assesses the shape of the lips and determines what changes are needed to achieve the desired result. This includes a discussion of potential risks and expected outcomes.
Lab tests may be required to evaluate the patient’s overall health.

2.Surgery:

Cheiloplasty is typically performed under local or general anesthesia.
The surgeon makes a precise incision in the lip area—usually on the inner side or within natural creases to minimize visible scarring—and performs the necessary corrections.
Lip fillers may be used to enhance volume if needed.

3.Recovery:

Patients are usually able to leave the clinic the same day or a few hours after the procedure.
Minor swelling, bruising, or discomfort in the lip area may occur in the first few days.
Physical activity should be limited, and patients should follow post-operative hygiene instructions provided by the doctor.
Full healing may take several weeks.
