Indications for Mini-Abdominoplasty:
- A small excess of skin in the lower abdomen.
- Localized fat deposits that do not disappear with diet or exercise.
- Absence of significant abdominal muscle diastasis.
- Scars or unevenness in the lower abdomen from previous surgeries.
Who mini-abdominoplasty is for
Mini-abdominoplasty is designed for a small skin excess below the navel only — when the abdomen has lost its shape after childbirth or moderate weight loss, but there is no apron of skin. It suits people with a stable weight, preserved tone in the upper abdomen and no marked diastasis above the navel.
If the skin excess extends above the navel or the muscles have separated along their full length, mini-abdominoplasty will not achieve the desired effect, and the classic operation is discussed instead.
How it differs from the classic operation
The procedure is smaller in scope: the navel is not repositioned and the skin is lifted only in the lower zone. The resulting scar is noticeably shorter than with the classic technique, surgery takes about 1.5–2 hours and recovery is quicker. It is performed under general or combined anaesthesia.

All DoctorsHow is the consultation going?
The horizontal incision sits low on the abdomen, in the natural crease above the pubis. It is shorter than in classic abdominoplasty and hides completely under underwear. No scar around the navel is needed, because the navel is not moved.
For the first weeks the scar is firm and pink; over 6–12 months it fades. Silicone sheets, compression garments and UV protection support neat healing.
You are usually discharged the next day. Walking slightly bent is allowed immediately; desk work resumes after 10–14 days. Compression garments are worn for about 4 weeks.
Abdominal loading and lifting are excluded for 6 weeks, and sport resumes from week 6–8. The final contour is assessed at 3 months.
