Stages of Coxarthrosis
Coxarthrosis progresses gradually, and symptoms vary depending on the stage of the disease. There are four stages of coxarthrosis, each with distinct characteristics:
- Stage 1: Initial phase with mild pain after physical activity. The cartilage is slightly damaged, and there may be minor movement restrictions.
- Stage 2: Increased pain, even at rest. The joint space narrows, movement becomes significantly limited, and stiffness appears.
- Stage 3: Persistent severe pain, minimal joint mobility, extensive cartilage destruction, and the onset of limping.
- Stage 4: Complete loss of mobility, intense pain, joint deformation, and bone-on-bone contact causing constant discomfort.
Causes of Coxarthrosis
Coxarthrosis develops due to various factors that contribute to the degeneration of the hip joint cartilage. The main causes include:
- Injuries: Fractures, dislocations, and other joint damage.
- Excessive physical strain: Professional sports or heavy physical labor.
- Obesity: Increased joint load.
- Genetic predisposition: Inherited susceptibility to joint diseases.
- Inflammatory conditions: Arthritis or joint infections.
