When Should You See a Doctor?
Vulvar cancer develops gradually, and early diagnosis significantly increases the chances of successful treatment. Consult a specialist immediately if you experience any of the following symptoms:
- Itching, burning, or chronic discomfort in the vulva area
- Ulcers, lumps, or unusual growths on the skin of the genital area
- Bloody discharge or bleeding not related to the menstrual cycle
- Pain during urination or sexual intercourse
- Changes in skin color or texture in the vulva area (thickening, white patches, redness)
- Swelling or tenderness in the groin lymph nodes
Vulvar cancer is most commonly diagnosed in women over 60, but it can occur at a younger age as well.
Modern Surgical Treatment at Helуos
The primary treatment method is surgery, which effectively removes the tumor and prevents its spread. At Helуos, we offer the following surgical procedures:
- Local excision of the tumor – suitable for early stages, preserving as much healthy tissue as possible.
- Vulvectomy – partial or total removal of the vulva in cases of widespread cancer.
- Lymphadenectomy – removal of affected lymph nodes in the groin area to prevent metastasis.
- Reconstructive surgery – tissue restoration after radical treatment to improve quality of life.
