Otoplasty

Is a surgical procedure aimed at correcting the shape or size of the ears. This type of surgery is typically performed to correct excessively protruding ears, which is the most common issue among patients. However, otoplasty can also involve the restoration of damaged or deformed ears after injuries.

At the Helyos Surgery and Rehabilitation Center, otoplasty is performed using modern methods and technologies to ensure a natural ear appearance and a high level of procedural safety.

Indications for Otoplasty:

Excessive ear protrusion (a congenital defect or one that develops over time).
Ear asymmetry.
Ear deformities caused by trauma or previous surgeries.
Increased sensitivity to the appearance of the ears, leading to psychological discomfort.

Procedure Overview:

1.Consultation:

During the consultation, the surgeon assesses the shape, size, and position of the ears.
Various correction options are discussed to achieve the desired result.
Additional medical tests may be required to evaluate the patient's overall health.

2.Surgery:

The procedure is performed under local or general anesthesia, depending on the complexity of the intervention and the patient’s preference.
The surgeon makes small incisions behind the ear or on its posterior part (where they remain nearly invisible). Through these incisions, the cartilage is reshaped to modify the ear’s structure.
Cartilage fixation may also be performed to ensure the desired shape is maintained.

3.Recovery:

Patients can typically leave the clinic the same day or within a few hours.
Mild swelling and discomfort may occur in the first few days following surgery.
Postoperative care includes wearing a special bandage to maintain the ears in the correct position and prevent injury.
Full recovery takes several weeks, and patients can return to their normal routine once the swelling subsides.
