Surgical Treatment of Tracheal and Esophageal Compression at the Helуos Surgery and Rehabilitation Center

What is Tracheal and Esophageal Compression?

Tracheal and esophageal compression is a condition in which pathological formations or changes in the neck and chest organs cause breathing and swallowing difficulties. It may be caused by an enlarged thyroid gland, tumors, vascular aneurysms, or other pathologies.

Surgical Treatment Methods at Helуos

The choice of surgical intervention depends on the cause of compression:

  • Thyroidectomy – removal of part or all of the thyroid gland in cases of significant enlargement.
  • Resection of neck or chest tumors – for benign or malignant neoplasms.
  • Reconstructive tracheal surgery – to restore airway patency.
  • Tracheostomy placement – in cases of critical airway narrowing.
  • Surgical correction of vascular anomalies, which may cause tracheal and esophageal compression.
