How does the treatment proceed?

When should you see a doctor?

If you experience the following symptoms, do not delay a visit to the specialist:
Severe pain in the lower back or side that may radiate to the abdomen or groin.
Blood in the urine (red, pink, or brownish tint).
Painful or difficult urination.
Frequent urges to urinate, even when little urine is passed.
Nausea or vomiting accompanying pain.
High fever and chills, which may indicate an infection.
Change in the color or odor of urine.
