Indications for Arthrodesis

Advanced osteoarthritis when other treatments are ineffective

Types of Arthrodesis

Internal fixation – joining joint surfaces using metal implants (plates, screws, rods)
External fixation – application of external fixation devices such as the Ilizarov apparatus
Bone grafting – using grafts to stimulate bone fusion
