Main Symptoms of a Spleen Cyst
The symptoms of a spleen cyst depend on the size and number of the cysts. Cysts up to 20 mm in diameter may not have any specific manifestations. As the cyst grows, it begins to exert pressure on the spleen’s blood vessels and causes an inflammatory process. The patient may experience:
- Paroxysmal or constant pain in the left side
- A feeling of constant discomfort in the abdomen, especially after eating
- Sudden weight loss
- Persistent weakness
- Increased body temperature
- Episodes of nausea and vomiting
- Shortness of breath or coughing
- Abdominal asymmetry
- Pain in the left shoulder
- Allergic rashes on the skin
The larger the cyst, the higher the intensity of symptoms. If left untreated, a spleen cyst may lead to abscesses or rupture, which can cause severe intoxication and peritonitis.
