You should see a rheumatologist if you have the following symptoms or conditions:

Joint or muscle pain: especially if the pain is long-lasting or accompanied by swelling, redness, or limited mobility.
Joint inflammation: swelling, warmth, or tenderness in your joints, especially in the morning.
Morning stiffness: if you feel restricted movement after sleeping that only goes away after a while.
Joint stiffness: difficulty bending or straightening your joints, especially if it is accompanied by pain.
Unexpected weight loss, fever, or general weakness: these symptoms may be signs of systemic diseases, such as systemic lupus erythematosus or vasculitis.
Skin changes: rashes that may be associated with rheumatic diseases.
Fatigue and muscle weakness: if you feel constant fatigue or weakness in your muscles, especially with physical activity.
Symptoms of osteoporosis: frequent fractures with minor injuries or back pain.

How is the consultation going?

History taking:

the doctor asks about symptoms, medical history, and heredity.

Examination and physical examination:

assessment of joint mobility, presence of pain or inflammation.

Symptom analysis:

the doctor studies the nature of the pain and accompanying symptoms.

Laboratory tests:

blood tests to determine inflammation and disease markers.

Instrumental studies:

ultrasound, X-ray, or MRI to assess the condition of the joints.

Diagnosis and treatment:

development of a treatment plan.

The consultation allows you to identify the cause of the disease and prescribe effective treatment.

There are usually no contraindications to a rheumatologist consultation, as this is a routine medical examination. However, there may be temporary contraindications:

acute infectious diseases (flu, acute respiratory viral infections, high fever);
severe general condition of the patient;
acute injuries requiring emergency medical care;
mental disorders in which the patient cannot cooperate with the doctor;
severe pain or exacerbation of a condition requiring emergency care.

In such cases, the consultation may be postponed until the patient's condition stabilizes.
