How is the surgery performed?
1.Consultation and diagnosis — initially, the patient undergoes an examination and special tests, including cystoscopy or uroflowmetry, to determine the location and severity of the stricture.
2.Surgery — there are several surgical methods to treat urethral strictures, including:
- Urethroplasty — restoring the normal diameter of the urethra through a plastic surgical procedure. This can involve either local reconstruction or tissue grafts from another part of the body.
- Stricture incision — the surgeon makes an incision in the urethra to widen the narrowed section.
- Stenting — placement of special tubes (stents) to help maintain urethral patency.
3.Rehabilitation — after surgery, the patient may leave the clinic within a few hours or the next day. Recovery usually takes from a few days to a week. It's important to follow the doctor's instructions to avoid complications.
