Insertion of an intrauterine device at the Helios Center

The intrauterine device (IUD) is an effective and long-lasting method of contraception that provides protection against unwanted pregnancy for a period of 3 to 10 years (depending on the type of IUD). At the Helios Center for Surgery and Rehabilitation, IUD insertion is performed by qualified doctors, taking into account the individual needs of the patient.

Contraindications to the insertion of an intrauterine device (IUD):

1.Active inflammatory diseases of the genital tract (inflammation of the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes):

  • If there are infectious diseases in the pelvic organs, the IUD cannot be inserted until they are treated.

2.Cervical or uterine cancer:

  • The IUD cannot be used if a woman has been diagnosed with cervical or uterine cancer.

3.Uterine fibroids with deformation of the uterine cavity:

  • Large fibroids that deform the uterus may prevent proper insertion of the IUD or cause it to prolapse.

4.Irregular shape of the uterus:

  • Anatomical abnormalities that may complicate the insertion of the IUD.

5.Pelvic organ dysfunction:

  • Cervical or uterine abnormalities that complicate insertion of the IUD.

6.Uncontrolled bleeding:

  • If a woman has unexplained bleeding from the genital tract that has no clear cause.

7.Allergy to the materials from which the IUD is made:

  • Refusal of the IUD due to allergy to latex, plastic or the metal from which some types of IUDs are made.

8.Blood clotting disorders:

  • Diseases that disrupt normal blood clotting may be a contraindication to the installation of the IUD due to the risk of bleeding.

9.Pregnancy:

  • The IUD should not be used during pregnancy.

10.Uterine tuberculosis:

  • This disease requires caution in the context of the installation of the IUD.

Before installing the IUD, it is important to consult a doctor, undergo an examination and evaluate individual indications and contraindications to choose the most suitable method of contraception.
