How is phimosis treated?
Consultation and diagnosis:
- Examination by a urologist to assess symptoms and the general condition of the patient.
- Performing tests (general urine and blood tests).
- Ultrasound or other diagnostic procedures to evaluate the condition of the tissues.
Choosing the treatment method:
1.Conservative treatment: In cases of mild phimosis, the doctor may prescribe special creams to reduce inflammation and ease the retraction of the foreskin.
2.Surgical treatment: If conservative treatment is ineffective or phimosis leads to complications, surgical intervention is performed:
- Circumcision — removal of the foreskin to facilitate its mobility and prevent complications.
- Foreskin plastic surgery — in some cases, surgical plastic surgery can be chosen to enlarge the opening of the foreskin without removing part of it.
Rehabilitation and prevention:
- Follow-up care by the doctor after the procedure to assess results and recovery.
- Prescription of hygiene and care recommendations for the genital area to prevent recurrence.
