Revision Endoprosthetics at the Helyos Surgery and Rehabilitation Center

What is revision endoprosthetics?

Revision endoprosthetics is a repeat surgery to replace or adjust an implanted artificial joint. This procedure is necessary if the initial endoprosthesis is worn out, damaged, or causing discomfort. It is more complex than primary prosthetics and requires a highly qualified surgeon and the use of modern technologies.

When should you see a doctor?

Revision endoprosthetics may be required in the following cases:

  • Wear or damage of the implant.
  • Infectious complications after primary prosthetics.
  • Joint dislocation or instability.
  • Allergic reaction to the implant material.
  • Pain and limited joint mobility.
  • Loosening of fixation or bone fracture around the implant.

How is the surgery performed?

1.Diagnosis – comprehensive examination (X-ray, CT, MRI, lab tests) and selection of the best treatment method.

2.Surgical intervention – removal of the old prosthesis, bone tissue restoration, and implantation of a new endoprosthesis.

  • Use of special bone grafts or cement fixators for implant stability.
  • Minimally invasive techniques to reduce complications.
  • Personalized prostheses designed to match the patient’s anatomy.

3.Rehabilitation – specialized recovery programs supervised by professionals.

  • Individual physiotherapy exercises.
  • Modern equipment for accelerated rehabilitation.
  • Continuous patient monitoring throughout the recovery process.
