Child's health - there is nothing more important than this for any parent. Therefore, consultations with a pediatrician (children's doctor) should be on a regular basis. But there are situations when going outdoors, visiting a polyclinic for a baby is completely unacceptable option. Then it is necessary to issue a call to a pediatrician at home.
When is it necessary?
A pediatrician is a specialist who "leads" the child from birth to adulthood. You should contact him on all issues related to the health of the baby, vaccinations, registration in kindergarten, school, and so on.
Pediatrician also provides first aid in cases of exacerbation of colds, chronic diseases. It is necessary to call him at home, with the following negative manifestations in the child:
- High body temperature;
- Restless behavior, drowsiness, general lethargy;
- Soreness of various locations (throat, stomach, ear);
- Cough, runny nose, vomiting, diarrhea;
- Rash over the body, swelling;
- Signs of dehydration (infrequent urination, dry skin, mucous membranes).
When the doctor examines the child at home, it has a positive effect on the child's psycho-emotional system, the baby does not feel fear. At the same time, it will also not have to expose him to additional stresses (frost on the street, other weather phenomena), respectively, you can not worry about the development of complications.
When to call an ambulance?
An ambulance is called when a child loses consciousness, has convulsions, or breathing is impaired. In addition, you should not delay in case of:
- Acute pain in the area of the spine (back), abdomen;
- Intense headache with dizziness, nausea, vomiting;
- When the body temperature rises to 39 degrees and above.
Any kind of trauma - burns, fractures, bruises (especially to the head), open wounds, also suggest calling an ambulance.
Why call a doctor at home?
At home, the pediatrician will be able to provide the first medical emergency assistance. In addition, during the visit, the doctor performs a full examination of the child, collects anamnesis, through a detailed interview with parents, tells, shows how to care for a sick baby, explains the actions of parents if necessary to relieve acute pain, alleviate the condition.
At home, if necessary, the doctor writes referrals for tests, other additional studies (ultrasound, MRI, Doppler, ECG), to a narrower specialist for consultation. After the visit, the pediatrician remains in touch with parents until the full recovery of the little patient.
When the doctor is called home again, he gives recommendations on further treatment tactics or gives a certificate allowing to attend kindergarten, school.
