Recommendations for stool collection
The laboratory accepts faeces only in special containers.
- Faeces should be obtained by natural defecation, without enemas or laxatives. Children with constipation can use a bar of soap for irritant effect. Faeces is collected in an individual vessel, washed with disinfectant.
- It is recommended to urinate in the toilet before collecting faeces.
- Avoid admixture of urine and genital secretions in the faeces.
- The stool sample from different places of a single portion is transferred to a special container using a spoon mounted in the lid, no more than 1/3 of the container volume (30 ml).
- Screw the lid of the container tightly and mark the container: Patient's name, specimen number (the data must correspond to the data specified in the referral form).
